How We Got Started

In 1985, John Christen, a Swiss born Gourmet Chef, decided to open a seafood restaurant which would primarily focus on top quality ingredients, a fun atmosphere, and incredible value.

After a lot of hard work, a ton of seafood, and buckets of clam chowder, one of the original "Florida Seafood Joints" was born.

Since then, Shells Seafood Restaurant has been shucking oysters, grilling shrimp and serving up delicious seafood with a laid-back Florida feel right here in Brandon.

We pride ourselves on fresh seafood, top notch ingredients and plenty of choices. From fresh oysters and our legendary clam chowder to crab, fresh catch, seafood pastas and more, Shells is a place where everyone can find a dish to love.
